Stratford’s Lost Railways

Based on the lost colour pictures of Stratford railway enthusiast T.E Williams, Stratford's Lost Railways showcases his photographs in colour print. Williams photographed the many railway lines that used to run through Stratford but are now no longer in use and have since been built on. The exhibition has been curated showing the different lines with a photograph of their current form and location. Come and explore Stratford's great former railway links, now in never seen before colour print.

Marie Corelli

Marie Corelli was the original best-selling author of the twentieth century, selling more novels than Charles Dickens and Arthur Conan Doyle combined! Queen Victoria was even a fan and requested all her books to be sent to her first upon their publication. But yet, no one has heard of her! Corelli lived in Stratford-upon-Avon for the last 24 years of her life and following her death in 1924, her life and works were seemingly forgotten. Come and visit our exhibition to see our revival of her character and discover what this heritage champion has achieved for our town.

The Terrible Toll House

The Old Toll House has stood alongside Clopton Bridge since 1814. Tolls were collected here until 1839 before becoming part of James Cox's Timber Yard in 1841 and falling derelict after the closure of Cox's Yard in the 1990s. Come and explore the untold story of this beautiful building in our family friendly horrible history style exhibition! The 1960s in Stratford! A time of peace, free love and flower power which saw its origins following two world wars, forming the catalyst for massive social change. The swinging sixties also saw the birth of pop culture and the development of material goods, such as cars, televisions and telephones. Slaughterhouse Exhibition

Stanley Henson’s acquired 14 Bridge Street in 1897, the rent was plus 6 fat capons. This fascinating opening exhibition explores the history of the site dating back to early 17th Century. 70 Years On: D-Day Remembered

Over 70 years ago, allied forces landed on the Norman coast in order to drive an occupation out of France. 70 Years On is a collection of several men's experiences of this event, from the lead up to the aftermath and the effect in had on those young men for the rest of their lives. In a film by Bill Jones, Escape Arts tells the stories of those involved in Operation Overlord from Stratford-upon-Avon. The following images are a collection from the launching of our D-Day film at Stratford Town Hall in 2014.
